Phones have surely gotten better, but boy have they gotten bigger. The iPhone Pro Max is more than halfway to the weight of a X100V, and only 100 grams lighter than my Olympus. I still like having a small phone with me all the time and a camera sometimes. It's nice to not have to have the greatest camera phone available because it's all you're going to shoot with. Plus, phones are just never going to manage decent shots on any focal length that's not wide as hell. I know they have long lenses now, but they are crazy slow and useless in anything but direct sunlight. I mostly take photos of people and almost never choose to shoot wide. Phones cut me right out of how I want to shoot. I've actually started putting a long prime on my camera and using my phone at the same time if I want a landscape. Works pretty darn well.
