One of the nicer parts of mirrorless cameras the article touches on briefly is the reduced focal distance makes it easy to adapt older lenses with just a cheap tube. Combine with focus peaking in viewfinder and sensor image stabilization and you have a great platform for messing around with cheaper vintage glass like the classic Helios lens. I’m hoping to get a Sony A7 II as it has all these features, but it is hard to stomach watching the price go up over time on a 7 year old camera!
- sudosysgen 5y agoI have an A7ii, and I did the same with cheap vintage glass. It is quite amazing! Eventually I upgraded to older canon EF lenses with a Metabones adapter I found on local classifieds for 100$. The AF isn't amazing, but it's good.
