Show HN: Different ways to implement virtual machines, benchmarked
- Extigy 5y agoThis repo mentions that threaded code is often used in Forth implementations, amongst other things. One of the best descriptions of threaded code and how Forth works in general is the Jonesforth[1] source code, written in a literate programming style. The prose is excellent and the whole thing is worth reading through. https://github.com/nornagon/jonesforth/blob/master/jonesforth.S https://github.com/nornagon/jonesforth/blob/master/jonesfort...
- shadowofneptune 5y agoI would have never understood how to implement threaded code without Jonesforth. I highly recommend it.
- smaddox 5y agoWhat are the units? Are these runtimes? The readme does not say.
- shadowofneptune 5y agoI can't believe I missed putting units in the tables. Apologies, this is now fixed.
