Part of the challenge is that some of these concepts are super varied in their implementation, despite having similar names, and I can only come to understand the tradeoffs of a complete system. "Byzantine Fault Tolerance" is a huge umbrella term that covers a lot of different tactics and approaches, so I welcome recommendations for concrete systems to investigate. EDIT: The reference to Hotstuff was added after I posted this reply. I'll investigate it.
