I think it's ok to use the up and down arrows to express agreement. Obviously the uparrows aren't only for applauding politeness, so it seems reasonable that the downarrows aren't only for booing rudeness.

- michaeldhopkins 15y agoI am quite surprised to see that. I suppose upvoting makes sense to reward karma, but the purpose of downvoting is to make a comment difficult to even read. It seems against the spirit of the site to do that to somethig one merely disagrees with.
