Verified links open directly in official apps in Android 12
- rektide 5y ago> In Android 12 we’re making some changes to help users get to their content faster and more seamlessly. Sounds more like it's helping apps insure their users don't have any freedom to use alternate clients? This sounds like a significant degradation for how useful & capable links are to users. I far prefer opening links in a browser, where my power is well known & universal rather than specific & narrow, and where I can use extensions to expand my capabilities. Getting sucked into an application sounds like a significant degradation, serving companies, not users.
- tentacleuno 5y agoYes, this is exactly the point I have been trying to raise. It's going to be a lot harder to open links in alternative clients now, e.g. Frost for Facebook. I hope this will not be followed by further usability-hampering features.
