Counterpoint: over the 18 years that I've been in the field, we've always had very male-heavy teams. Most teams have been all men. I can only think of one team that had more than one woman on it.
I'm US east-coast, suburban, and definitely not inside the SV culture bubble.
- AzzieElbab 5y agoI am a contractor/consultant. I have roughly 3 contracts per year. The only all men team I have seen in the last 5 years was ironically lead and hired by a female manager. Now that I think about it is possible that industries also matter. The team I mentioned worked at heavy machinery manufacturer, teams in health-it, financial, e-commerce, and startups are all super diverse. In health m/f ratio is probably around 3/7. I have no experience with academia
