- aidenn0 5y agoI have UHD rips from blue-rays that I own made with makemkv. As far as I can tell, doing the rips for personal use is 100% allowed in my jurisdiction. If anything the fact that newer machines can't play them back would strengthen my fair-use case. These are personal-use copies of physical media that I own, which does not fall under most peoples definition of piracy.
