Six in 10 Americans ‘alarmed’ or ‘concerned’ about climate change – study
- LatteLazy 5y agoThe majority of people want something done immediately. The majority of people are vehemently opposed to paying 5% more for petrol or energy, eating less meat, having smaller houses, flying less or any other actual action.
- ajsnigrutin 5y agoI mean... you have politicians and "influeners" (i'm talking guys like leonardo dicaprio, and not youtubers) flying in their own personal jets around the world, to say Johnny Average here, that he shouldn't drive his car and eat meat. You also have huge industries totally unregulated (just look at great pacific garbage patch... most of the trash there is fishning equipment, not to mention many many other industries), but instead of regulating them, the polticians ban straws and tap their backs. We have empty planes flying all over the world, so airlines can keep their slot, but johnny should ride his bike in the rain. We have china polluting everything, but no plastic bag for johnny, only reusable ones, which are even worse for the environment. We have companies fighting right to repair, creating a huge amount of e-waste due to their policies, but no, johnny should live in a smaller house. I mean.. honestly, I get johnny.

- jfengel 5y agoI am concerned about climate change. I am alarmed at how impossible it is for America to do anything about it. Both because a 6/10 majority should be able to accomplish something but cannot, and because the 4/10 minority is so aggressively blind to the evidence. Climate change is a long way off, but we have many other problems facing us today where that same 4/10 minority is both very wrong and very capable of preventing corrective action. That was true before pandemic, but the pandemic is one direct and explicit example, and it's causing the US to fare worse than most other nations. That's alarming.
