Tech dude rips off Wordle, angers internet
- mzs 5y ago> Looks like that Wordle cash grab and a bunch of other clones are gone from the App Store. - https://twitter.com/jchaser/status/1481061408527769603 https://twitter.com/jchaser/status/1481061408527769603 @zachshakked > I absolutely despise copycats. Shameless copying is so dumb. Take inspiration from others. Why are they doing that? Why is this a good feature for users? How can we build on top of that? > Shameless copy/pasting ideas/features will get you nowhere. 8:15 PM · Jun 21, 2021 - https://twitter.com/zachshakked/status/1407145248250335235 https://twitter.com/zachshakked/status/1407145248250335235 @zachshakked > This app Hashtag Planner completely copied my paywall before. We reached out to Apple, had them change it completely, and resolved the issue. > I check their app again and now they are copying my NEW paywall! Are you freaking kidding me? 1:14 PM · Nov 21, 2020 - https://twitter.com/zachshakked/status/1330228134835343362 https://twitter.com/zachshakked/status/1330228134835343362

- bluehorseray 5y agoHonestly I don't have too much of a problem with this. I played wordle and really liked it, enough to want to play it more than once a day. If someone's willing to provide that I think it's a good thing, and it's not as if the original creator couldn't have done so himself. I think the OG creator was being a little too idealistic with the 1/day limit (and naive if he didn't think there would be copies that let you play more).
- flohofwoe 5y agoErm, isn't Wordle itself a "rip off" of the Mastermind variant "Word Mastermind" from 1975?

- PragmaticPulp 5y agoApp stores are actually flooded with copycat versions of Worlde. This guy was just dumb enough to copy the name, too. Remember that 2048 game that was wildly popular for a few years? The popular versions weren’t even the original. They were just copycats that caught on. To this day you can find literally hundreds of copycats of 2048 across App Stores and the internet.

- mensetmanusman 5y agoThe App store is kind of like fast fashion, everyone copies everyone else, scams everywhere, fakes everywhere, a few gems
