I really enjoy learning about quirky ways to "store" energy, there is also one case that allows "storing" of energy by pushing massive concrete blocks uphill and when energy is needed, blocks simply slide down and generate energy. Not sure if this can be called "Storing" though.
- konschubert 5y agoThe more efficient version of this idea looks like this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pumped-storage_hydroelectricity https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pumped-storage_hydroelectricit...
- s1artibartfast 5y agoI don't know that this is always the case. I think that solid mass gravity storage projects have quite high efficiency. there is no rule that water+ turbines is more efficiency than Solid mass + alternators.
- EricE 5y agoIt's only efficient if you have the right environment for it to work (enough space, enough of an elevation gradient, etc.). If you can't build it where you need it, then efficiency doesn't really matter now, does it?
