  It’s too late at this point: the vast majority of RCS clients won’t support it (if it happens), so the green bubble that google hates is destined to remain. Google could have avoided this by not continuously releasing and killing chat services. If they’d stuck to one they would have a much bigger number of users - people complain about iOS, but lets be real: android is a much bigger market. Google allowing both the hardware and software to fragment in basic functionality is a questionable decision.
