Ask HN: Reduction of Commercial Air Travel to one day a week
Could the world survive and thrive on a reduction of air travel to the same 24 hour period once a week? Would the decreased fuel have a significant environmental and fuel price impact? Would it reduce the risk of spreading harmful viruses such as the last version of Covid? Would your business be able to adapt?
- aflag 5y agoThat would be unfortunate for anyone with a family. It would mean staying away from them over the weekend for any business trip.
- ls15 5y agoIt would also mean that any stay is one week at least.
- Bostonian 5y agoMany business trips do not last a week. What is the traveler supposed to do on the remaining days? You referred to "commercial" air travel. Who is going to verify the purpose of a trip? In general, if you think air travel should be reduced for environmental reason (I don't), a tax on jet fuel would make more sense.
