You don't want to put on a VR headset, head into the "metaverse" with your web3 crypto wallet, wearing your favorite NFT backed digital outfit and calmly try to phrase "buy honey wheat bread" in a VR grocery store to an AI bot that thinks you are buying honey? And then rephrase it 3 different ways without success, get frustrated and just click a couple links on your phone to order it.
This does feel similar to the dot com boom/bust cycle that happened which possibly pre-dates your work experience by a decade. There will be some interesting useful technology and companies that survive this boom/bust cycle. I don't have a crystal ball but maybe the test is if you can explain what a company does to a grandmother and she understands it then its probably okay (not withstanding competition, market cycles, etc.)
The last time I was elated with some technology was when the iPhone came out, so I could ditch the flip phone and ipod I was carrying.
I think you have achieved the ability to see through the illusions (aka bullshit) companies try to create.
