Amazon KDP delayed royalties til Jan 1 then killed the account on Dec 31
- pjbeam 5y agoIn case the Twitter OP checks out the thread--I can't magically fix this problem for you but I can definitely get human beings to take a look to see what can be done for you. Send me an email to my HN handle at protonmail dot com and we'll move the conversation to my work address from there.
- robalfonso 5y agoThis is unfortunate, it seems the author is Nigerian and was flagged. Of course conveniently amazon is taking their money. This is the problem with Nigeria (Pop 200mm) and other high risk countries with a reputation for internet fraud. Rather than try to solve the problem automated systems take over and legitimate actors are left w/out recourse.
- mindslight 5y agoI didn't think I worked for Amazon in Customer Support, but apparently I do! Upvoting because signal boosting through social media has become the only channel for receiving human-intelligent customer service from Big Tech. It's not worth thinking about it any deeper, it is what it is.
- dahdum 5y agoWhile Amazon didn't explain their action (only that they were "confident") his tweets explain some of the strategies he has to use in order publish from Nigeria. He could be linked to actually fraudulent accounts by accident through vpn, fake us addresses, or the US bank "mimic" service. > I won't be publishing anymore. At least not while I'm on the continent. I don't think I'm supposed to. The obstacles I've faced on the path to this are indicating that. Firstly navigating payment and publishing at all, getting shut out of platforms when I put in the region I'm from, having to pretend to be from the US or somewhere in the West. Using services that mimic US bank accounts, Having to essentially, even literally lie I'm American, being unable to use PayPal, or the usual payment methods. This isn't even the first time I was banned. 1st was from Draft2Digital for being Nigerian
- tssva 5y agoBy his own admission he has been commiting fraudulent acts. Amazon made the right call.
