- MontyCarloHall 5y agoInterviewer: “how do you feel about your government?” Chinese interviewee: “I can’t complain!”
- hprotagonist 5y ago“Everything is fine back home in the old country, except i can’t find a store that sells any green ink!”
- mijoharas 5y agosorry to ask, as I'm sure it's just me not getting the joke, but are you referring to "green ink" in terms of this[0] or something else? [0] https://rationalwiki.org/wiki/Green_ink https://rationalwiki.org/wiki/Green_ink
- fionnoh 5y agoIt's (I believe) a reference to an old Communist joke. A guy was sent from East Germany to work in Siberia. He knew his mail would be read by censors, so he told his friends: “Let’s establish a code. If a letter you get from me is written in blue ink, it is true what I say. If it is written in red ink, it is false.” After a month, his friends get the first letter. Everything is in blue. It says, this letter: “Everything is wonderful here. Stores are full of good food. Movie theaters show good films from the west. Apartments are large and luxurious. The only thing you cannot buy is red ink.”
