When I read of someone dying prematurely, I actually find it reassuring if the person OD'd -- it's an identifiable cause that I can avoid in my life. Seeing people drop dead for no apparent reason causes me more anxiety! I can see the flip side though, that it having been preventable makes it more tragic.
