After finding out about this, I'm personally never going to do business with Hertz ever again. The risks aren't worth it.

- smabie 5y agoA couple people (assuming they are telling the truth) out of the hundreds of thousands of people who have presumably rented from hertz over the year or whatever makes the risk too high? Seems like the risk is in fact quite low. Like come on from a practical/risk perspective this should be the last thing on anyone's minds when renting a vehicle from hertz.
- sjtindell 5y agoAs many or more than 165 people dating back to 2008. It’s fully believable they do this because they won’t update their systems and just dump investigations on the police. They bailed on their debts using bankruptcy and are still alive…abhorrent all around.

Hertz filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, which means they negotiated to restructure their debts and they continued operations. Creditors got to vote on the proposed plan and approved. So yes, they are still alive, as intended by everyone involved. Are you saying that chapter 11 bankruptcy is immoral and businesses should always file for Chapter 7? What if the affected creditors and employees get a better outcome with a chapter 11?
- sjtindell 5y agoSure, that’s a good point.
