- bsagdiyev 5y agoYou’re running mission critical software without thoroughly parsing your chain of dependencies and then automatically deploying updates on top of it? I don’t think the author is at fault here, just bad practices of whoever broke their application.
- viro 5y agomalware is malware. shoulda coulda doesn't matter its still a crime. "All those people I scammed out of their life saving should have known better". You probably shouldn't advertise that you work at crowd strike with crazy takes like that.
- tibiapejagala 5y agoI love how you describe this as “pushing malware to random servers”. Maybe if he included a backdoor in previous versions and now dispatched infinite loop from his C&C server, sure. But he published a new version of his library, which was literally pulled by the affected parties. I’m pretty sure that was illegal in the US, but that’s multiple-felonies-a-day-land anyway.
- wly_cdgr 5y agoI love to see venture bros getting fucked in the ass like they deserve. They're choosing to pull the updates, so anything that happens on their end as a result is their risk, their responsibility, and their problem
