Minus my Hoobs setup was literally knocked offline over that stupid ass stunt. Care to describe to me how that isn't a violation of the CFAA? The fact that you think that crashing RANDOM servers that you DONT know what they do is an ok form of protest is INSANE
- thr0wawayf00 5y agoIs it not equally crazy that a single random person has the ability to make such an impact on so many systems? That's exactly what FOSS facilitates here. Again, I wouldn't do what this person did, but situations like this are a byproduct of FOSS.
- google234123 5y agoHave you ever read an open source license? Most of them have something like this clause “ THE SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED "AS IS", WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR..” If you pull random unverified code from the internet don’t be surprised when something breaks.
- ydlr 5y agoHow could any production servers be knocked offline by this. Certainly no one would be so careless as to deploy completely untested third-party code?
- alar44 5y agoThe fact that you think you can just run whatever code not written by you on your servers is insane. The fact that you think protest should be able to be ignored is insane. The whole point of protest is disruption.
