The average wage where I live now is shockingly low - and that's after coming from a somewhat depressed former mill town. I moved here though because it's absolutely stunning and my life will be immeasurably better because of it (once I finish this damn never-ending contract and get some free time at least!). I'd hate to have to take a giant pay cut just for wanting to actually enjoy my life. If anything my productivity and quality of work has gone up. Pay me less for that and I'm off!
