This is a cost of migration. I am totally fine with renting my server at AWS if I can move it to another provider at any time.
The goal of decentralization is ownership of your data and services. Centralization only becomes a problem if there is no competition and a company has too much power.
- swalsh 5y agoFor me, the problem of Centralization was the gate keeping. It seems often when an API is used to migrate to a new system the API is turned off. Thats if there was an API at all. If the centralized service is an easily replaceable commodity... I'm not super concerned.
