Core problem is you generally will fail a PhD if all you are is the middle author of lots of papers. Even worse if you are looking for an academic job afterwards.
- mehrdada 5y agoP.S. and it is optimistic to assume the person’s contributions are highlighted in authorship and not buried in the acknowledgment section.
- Topolomancer 5y agoAuthor here---that's exactly one of the issues I encountered. I am making a conscious effort to move beyond this state of affairs, but it takes more than one person to enact change.
