Fast Kernel Headers v2 Posted – Speeds Up Clang-Built Linux Kernel Build by ~88%
- Matthias247 5y ago> The fast-headers tree consists of over 25 sub-trees internally, spanning over 2,300 commits, which can be found at: I'm curious how they get something like this safely merged. Reviewing that many commits is a huge effort. And obviously the main branch might move away, and merge conflicts can arise.
- rurban 5y agoHuge only because he seperated commits for each header. Just about 100k, less than a typical filesystem. No logic changed, he just removed unneeded deps, split some headers into 2. Other patches are harder to review. But the crux is to test against all the configs, and the burden for external patches. This will require a major bump to 6.
