We have vaccines and boosters now. Historical statistics are unimportant and meaningless for making policy decisions today. And when it comes to making policy decisions on a scale of millions of people, humans are statistics. Those Covid deaths are tragic, but children losing a parent or caregiver is common. 20% of children will experience the death of a parent or caregiver before the age of 29.
