Google launches Ripple, an open standard to bring tiny radars to cars and more
- beebeepka 5y agoPlease don't. I am firmly against being blasted with microwaves for seemingly no good reason. If cars can't operate without poisoning every living thing around them, then good riddance. Mind boggling shit
- conradludgate 5y agoI hope you realise that all the phone signals and radio waves are already all around you, and that just by existing near computers, you're being blasted with GHz frequencies. Just because microwaves can cook food when in a specialised container and with very high amplitude waves, does not make the radio waves harmful
- ffhhj 5y agoVery low levels of radiation are harmless, and a little higher can save the lives of people with cancer. So it's all good, want higher levels? Seriously, we don't need more radiation in our environment, microwaves are aleady harming insects.
- beebeepka 5y agoThanks. I am so sick of the "harmless to humans" trope.
- eternityforest 5y agoI'd much rather be blasted with tiny amounts of microwaves than the disgusting soot current cars make. These radars could save lives.
- hungryforcodes 5y agoStaying home and being locked down by a straight jacket could save lives too.
- eternityforest 5y agoYeah but radars are cheap mass produced tech that requires no lifestyle changes in practical terms(Although some may be bothered philosophically by their car being able to override them to prevent a crash).
- RL_Quine 5y agoRF is all around you, regardless of human interaction.
- rdtwo 5y agoCrap a google product… it will get discontinued and abandoned before it gains significant market share. Wish it was anyone else other than Google. They kill everything they touch
- abdk 5y agoBut Ripple is a cryptocurrency, how Google come up with this name?
