Can you transparently see all the code and databases for the websites you use and all the bank code and transactions?
- ShamelessC 5y agoThe average user (the same user that doesn't want to be bothered with running a server at home) doesn't care about this, I don't think. Most people would prefer to rely on a trusted authority or expert for this sort of thing. When talking about democratization, the average user is probably the only user that matters.
- mattwilsonn888 5y agoYes but the fact that the user will do what's convenient does not mean it is better. The thing about Bitcoin (as an example) is that 99% of people using can't parse the source code, but they all know that if there was an issue in it the alarm would have been sounded by now by someone who could.
- ShamelessC 5y ago> Yes but the fact that the user will do what's convenient does not mean it is better. This is irrelevant if it doesn't gain traction.
- mattwilsonn888 5y agoSo is everything.
- astrange 5y agoIt doesn't matter, because banks can undo mistaken transactions.
- JohnJamesRambo 5y agoAnd they can hide so many other illicit and bogus transactions and investments in their favor.
- astrange 5y agoI don’t think the thing you just made up because it made you sound cynical is a real problem.
