This is like a less contributor-hostile alternative to your typical CLA: instead of being used to allow proprietization of contributions by taking rights to contributions from contributors, the DCO serves only to ensure that your contribution doesn't carry legal risk.
If you read the contents of the DCO you will see exactly what it does.
- remram 5y agoI really don't. I am not a lawyer. I can see what it asks of contributors, but I don't know when it's required, how to present it, and whether it serves its intended purpose. Some licenses (e.g. Apache-2.0) have some language about this built in. Some don't. When would I use this?
