Surely a global shortage of a certain very specific good is different than a local shortage of everyday consumer goods. I hope you are right that this is not a serious issue. I can only say that I ran into this, as well as being unable to reliably get on a flight, as well as being unable to easily aquire a PCR test required for international travel all within the same 3 week period. And none of these problems seem to exist in Germany.
