I see stuff like this and can only dream the breakthroughs on the horizon (and yes, BMW signed a deal with E-Ink for this) when the parents start expiring
- robinsoh 5y agoFYI, I questioned the veracity of those comments and never got a reply from the throwaway accounts that were used to post them. Check out my comment history trying to get to the bottom of those claims of evil EInk corporation holding back all of electrophoretic display tech. My opinion is that they're false. > I see stuff like this and can only dream the breakthroughs on the horizon (and yes, BMW signed a deal with E-Ink for this) when the parents start expiring What basis do your dreams have? Which patent or patents do you think is blocking something and what breakthrough is it you're specifically thinking about? See my comment history. I work in the display industry. What is actually holding back the tech is rheology physics and simple lack of investment. Electrophoretics is by its inherent physics always going to have to be slow to achieve bistability. Find me a VC who'll invest billions in a new display tech versus internet services/ML/AI/etc.
