Renewable energy doesn't defeat any argument against proof of work. Bitcoin is an absolutely outrageous waste of resources. Whether those resources are renewable is important, but there's a seriously high cost either way. We need to recognize what else can be done with that energy or the people and materials that are expended to stand up energy infrastructure.
