The Military’s New Challenge: Defeating Cheap Hobbyist Drones

Getting a round on a path near enough to a drone to destroy it is a far easier task than actually hitting it. The electronics for a proximity fuse today should be almost trivial to make in mass quantities. Then the task is to optimize for destructive potential. Is it better to try fragmentation, or blinding the weapon with chaffe, paint, etc? Nets of carbon fiber? The possibilities are almost endless. You could optimize for drone kill/people harm ratio as well, making it almost safe for humans if the round goes off in the wrong place.
