I-95 shutdown: Uber rider trapped in traffic slammed with $600 bill
- metadat 5y agoHorrible, throwing another individual into the inferno to keep the hungry Uber engine topped off. I definitely never noticed any mention of variable-rates post-ride-completion in their ToS. Between Uber and AirBnB (the worst IME), not sure what more they could do to signal how greedy and soulless they are when it comes to injecting and enforcing customer-hostile bits into the 10-50 pages of fine print you clicked "yes" on after skimming it for 2 seconds (if that). Gig economies are remarkably consistent in this regard. The good news is it only took me once with AirBnButts to learn my $3,000 lesson. Never again, it's worse than craigslist.
