  Yeah a lot of people think those industries are "ripe for disruption" and then they realize no you can't represent it in JSON and you can't manage it on a phone-sized UI.

    I've written several APIs and middlewares for freight, inventory, WMS and OMS platforms. You absolutely can represent data with json over "archaic" xml, and edi. I set up our company with EDI through sps commerce - we didn't want to build a tight integration so we exchange flat files on SFTP.

      flat files over sftp is what ive done as well did you do a JSON to XML converter on your API calls b4 sending them to SPS Commerce ?
