> St-Pierre said she won the free trip in a contest on Instagram and had never previously heard of the organizer, who identifies himself on social media as James William Awad. “I was expecting a relaxing week, where I was going to be careful,” she said. “But this turns out to be an expensive trip for something that was supposed to be free.”
I don't like the idea of an airline stranding people in a foreign country, and I really don't like that the prime minister directly mocked those people, but going on a "free" trip you "won" on instagram organized by someone you have never even heard of is pretty idiotic.

- techwizard81 5y agoI think you should read more on what happened in the plane going there, they are getting what they deserve. There is a reason the police were waiting for them at the airport when they got back to Montreal!
- rkk3 5y agoYeah Prime Minister Trudeau shouldn't have even commented, it was a private flight, who cares... they weren't wearing masks it's not like they were wearing blackface, oh wait.

Ultimately, these are private enterprises and you're not entitled to your preferred mode of transportation for a return trip to Canada. It would be a lot more inconvenient to have to bus or rent a car to drive all the way back, but if you're going to break a bunch of laws the consequences may, unsurprisingly, be inconvenient.
