Introducing Clearing by Robinhood (2018)
- bob1029 5y agoI can only imagine what this must have been like to work on. You see the exact same thing in core banking. Many are still using the same old tired solutions from the 80/90/00s. It really gets in the way of innovation when a nightly processing cycle is required to mutate some business state. There have been improvements, and some big players run their own in house stack, but the smaller end of the market is still quite antiquated. These kinds of complex systems fascinate me. We have to integrate with them a lot from the outside, and over time you start to get a sense for what a more ideal system might look like. One day in the not-too-distant future I hope to get a chance to work on something like this. Dreams of writing a shiny new core in C#/.NET6 and running it on linux/x86/arm dance through my head occasionally.
