Evidence of large recoil velocity from a black hole merger signal
- raattgift 5y agoYes it's a twitter thread, sorry. Fortunately it's not a very long one. HNers may be especially interested in https://vijayvarma392.github.io/binaryBHexp/ https://vijayvarma392.github.io/binaryBHexp/ (from the second tweet). Link to the paper also in second tweet: https://arxiv.org/abs/2201.01302 https://arxiv.org/abs/2201.01302 Finally, I'd like to highlight: "There are many implications for large kicks, in fields ranging from black hole formation to tests of general relativity. For example, kicked black holes can even get ejected from their host galaxies! This would limit the formation of heavy black holes through repeated mergers".
