When I was a teenager I worked at a phone survey company. I quickly realized that many of my colleagues were making up answers to hit their targets.
I somehow did well for my first day, getting through 3 50-question surveys. It was not enough. I was sent home halfway through the day. I was supposed to tell them it was my first day so they would be lenient but I wanted to go drink beer instead.
- propogandist 5y agofunny enough, I too worked for a phone survey company back in the day and saw the same behavior. The hardest part was convincing people that we were weren't telemarketers. The company also had a small squad doing surveys in high traffic locations like malls and my friends who worked there made a lot of money inflating unverifiable survey responses. I was in DECA too and it's a shame they don't disclose details on how they conducted this survey.
- nefitty 5y agoYeah, it's a weird industry. I first registered to vote when I was 16 because the canvasser that stopped me in front of a gas station wouldn't leave me alone. I told him I wasn't old enough to vote. He said, "It's all good man, no one cares." I obviously never voted before I was 18, but I presume my registration still helped him with his stats for the day.
