How to make your user interface CRAP
- jrockway 18y agoIMHO, using the word "CRAP" to describe good practices seems like a bad idea. I thought the article was going to be a rant about some UIs the author didn't like... instead it was useful advice. I'm glad I clicked through, but "CRAP" didn't help that.
- Jem 18y agoThis person didn't invent the term CRAP to define good design; it's been around for longer than I can remember.
- nuclear_eclipse 18y agoIt's still a poor term for positive reinforcement...
- denglish 18y ago...and makes it nearly impossible to separate the crap from the CRAP!
- jrockway 18y agoFair enough. But the people that need basic advice like this might not be aware of the term, and might not read the article as a result.
- Jem 18y agoOn the contrary, I think people are more likely to read it because of the "lol they said CRAP!" reaction. I guess that was why the term was 'invented', as opposed to PRAC or RAPC or another less-silly combination. FYI this was where I first heard the acronym: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Non-Designers-Design-Book-Robin-Williams/dp/0321193857/ http://www.amazon.co.uk/Non-Designers-Design-Book-Robin-Will...
- sh1mmer 18y ago"How to make your user interface CARP on at people about what they should do." CRAP isn't ironic, it's crap.
