Wi-Fi 6 Release 2 announced to further confuse you about Wi-Fi standards
- warning26 5y agoPersonally, I'm holding out for Wi-Fi 98 Second Edition OSR 2 with Microsoft Internet Explorer
- ksec 5y agoWiFI 6 R2 = WiFi 6E + mandatory support of Uplink MU-MIMO and low power mode. i.e Not really important to 99% of users. So their plan is to sell WiFi 6E this year, WiFi 6 Release 2 next year ( 2023 ), and WiFi 7 in 2024. And yet apart from Multi-Access Point Coordination in WiFi 7 / 802.11be, ( Assuming it does work and land ) none of the improvements matters to average consumers.
- ksec 5y agoCare to explain the downvote?
- zui 5y agoAt this point, I would even take Wi-fi 2022, Wi-fi 2023, ... That would be less confusing!
- elzbardico 5y agoWi-Fi Series X/S
- _8j50 5y agoWifi should give up on layer 2 security entirely and allow for proper Layer2/3 security to mature (macsec was on track). I shouldn't need to update firmware to fix security issues or update the protocol, this isn't 1998. Wifi should stick to radio standards. Once you pick an SSID the OS should authenticate the network using the same protocol you would use with ethernet networks, security issues should be an OS update away for a fix that way.
- tibbydudeza 5y agoGot WiFi 6E router but none of my devices support the modes - our phones are now getting replaced when they physically die or get lost - 5 years on a phone is not new in our household because of cost and them being good enough.
