True - I did the same thing.
But the you claim that people can’s move away from Apple is false. Why do you keep advancing it?
- fsflover 5y agoNothing is impossible. However everyone agrees that Apple created a walled garden which is hard to escape. Try to use their watches without an iPhone.
- zepto 5y ago> However everyone agrees that Apple created a walled garden which is hard to escape. An obviously false statement. > Try to use their watches without an iPhone. Their watches are an iPhone accessory advertised as requiring an iPhone in order to work. Anyone who buys one thinking otherwise has been misinformed by someone other than Apple, and can return it to the store for a full refund. Then they can buy one of many Android wear or other smartwatches instead.
- fsflover 5y ago>> However everyone agrees that Apple created a walled garden which is hard to escape. >An obviously false statement. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Criticism_of_Apple_Inc.#Accusations_of_anti-competitive_behavior https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Criticism_of_Apple_Inc.#Accusa... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Closed_platform#Aspects https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Closed_platform#Aspects > Their watches are an iPhone accessory advertised as requiring an iPhone in order to work. Not in their video ads. Also, at https://www.apple.com/watch/ https://www.apple.com/watch/ it's buried at the end of the tiny font.
- zepto 5y agoJust because something is on Wikipedia doesn’t mean ‘everyone agrees with it. You can’t seriously believe this. Are you really trying to claim people are buying Apple watches they can’t use because they don’t have an iPhone? That doesn’t seem grounded in reality.
- fsflover 5y agoWikipedia is not a source. It's a list of reliable sources. Feel free to read the carefully provided links.
- zepto 5y agoNot one of those sources represents something ‘everyone agrees’ with. You know this.
- fsflover 5y agoFrom my second link: "Apple iOS and other mobile devices, which are restricted to running pre-approved applications from a digital distribution service." If you find The Guardian and Time references unsatisfactory, consider this: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=21587191 https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=21587191. I really don't understand why you are so much defending Apple.
- zepto 5y agoI’m not defending Apple. I’m rebutting the ridiculous idea that what is printed in the Guardian is what ‘everybody agrees’.
- fsflover 5y agoI did not suggest that an article in Guardian means everybody agrees with that. In this case, Apple themselves agree that the iOS platform is closed for many things.
- zepto 5y agoYes you did. You posted it as evidence of this statement you made: >> However everyone agrees that Apple created a walled garden which is hard to escape. Apple agrees it’s closed in some ways. Far from ‘everyone’ thinks it’s hard to escape.
