I'm also anti-leeting for interviews. The one argument for them that I struggle with is when the candidate is told they'll be asked about data structures and algorithms.
The reason for the struggle is that, framed properly it tests a real world situation. Given this problem I've told you about in advance, how well did you prepare yourself to answer it?
I don't think it's fair to tell the candidate they could be asked about sorting, trees, lists, graphs, dp, lp so try and cram a 4/6 year CS degree(s) into the next two weeks. That said, telling the candidate, that they will potentially be asked to whiteboard a solution involving binary trees, sorting, or a linked list seems fair to me.
