D.C. Circuit May Blow Up the Remote Identification Rule for Drones
- LinuxBender 5y agoOn a side note I have never comprehended the intention the FAA was pushing with RID. It doesn't integrate with existing ADS-B and explicitly isn't permitted to do so. Add to this RID emits 1 watt of power. This would mean all aircraft would need new equipment and even then they are not going to detect the location of the drone until they are about to slam right into it given the speeds of some aircraft. Did the FAA publish any technical peer reviewed papers on RID? Did AOPA have any say in it?
