“An equipment engineer might start work at 8 o’clock in the morning and leave around 9 o’clock at night, but is it normal? This may happen two or three days a week
This was the line that had me in splits, like "What do you mean staying 13 hours a day two to three days a week makes it normal?"
- mlyle 5y agoNormal fab work is a 12 hour shift-- plus having to suit up and unsuit outside those shifts-- 3.5 times per week in the US. Yes, this means some overtime.
- square_usual 5y agoRegardless of whether it's actually normal or not, I find it funny that the engineer thinks something happening "2 to 3 times a week" doesn't make it normal.
- mlyle 5y agoNormal and routine aren't quite the same thing. My friends and I may lick doorknobs 3 times per week, but others would be hard pressed to describe it as "normal". Though perhaps within the context of our custom, and from our point of view, it is. P.S. I don't actually lick doorknobs.
