- bhhaskin 5y agoBut 10 years is an eternity in tech. On top of that China already has chip foundries. No one uses them for anything important because they don't want their IP stolen. Taiwan's value to China isn't TSMC, although it would be a bonus to take it. The rest of the world however would lose a major asset. Which is why the US is starting to build new foundries.
- totalZero 5y agoBingo. If anything, destroying the Taiwanese fabs would strengthen Chinese chip hegemony.
- thewarrior 5y agoThere is no technology in which an eternal edge has been maintained. China has a billion people and trillions to throw at the problem. The laws of physics are the same for all. Once you know something works it’s only a matter of investing capital.
- robbedpeter 5y agoYeah, culture and social contexts don't matter at all. People and and institutions that steal and lie and cheat will be able to innovate and develop at exactly the same rate and level of quality.
- sudosysgen 5y agoThose are all issues that can be resolved with time and money, so yes.
