At this point I've lost faith in my generation, my parents' generation, and everything in between and outside of that. I don't care what your degree says or does not say. I don't care about your credentials. I don't care about your politics. Everyone has been wrong. MY YOUNG CHILDREN SHOULD NOT HAVE TO CONTINUE WEARING MASKS AT SCHOOL WHEN THEY ARE VACCINATED. That is no way to grow up indeed.

That is no way to grow up indeed. And I don't want my kid anywhere near yours then. Mask are not to protect them. Mask are to protect others. Just because someone is vaccinated does not mean they can't spread viruses.
- elpakal 5y agoViruses are not new. The article is about when we move on from a 2 year pandemic. I hope you’re not suggesting kids always wear masks because viruses.
- khazhoux 5y agoI'm fascinated by this kind of response from other parents. My kids don't really mind the masks. It's just not a big deal to them. I mean, I obviously hope we can go back to normal before too much longer, but the mask itself isn't actively harming them. On the other hand, not being able to interact with classmates during school-from-home last year... that had a big effect on their social lives. But now, they see and hang out with their friends (and frenemies) every day. There's a mask on their face -- not a big deal.
- elpakal 5y agoWell one my kids has had an open sore on his mouth for months because of the mask. Im equally as fascinated by parents who find masking their children to be totally fine. They don’t really have a say in this and I don’t believe for one second that kids would rather wear a mask than not.
- khazhoux 5y ago> Im equally as fascinated by parents who find masking their children to be totally fine. It's not "totally fine." We're all tired of the masks, sure. I just don't think they're actively harmful. > They don’t really have a say in this and I don’t believe for one second that kids would rather wear a mask than not. Heh, I don't have to tell you, I'm sure, but there's a lot of things kids would rather not do.
- elpakal 5y ago> Heh, I don't have to tell you, I'm sure, but there's a lot of things kids would rather not do. Indeed, but in your previous comment you said “masks on their face not a big deal”. I take it that is how you feel about it and not how they feel about it. Maybe we should think about them a little more is the point - adults have clearly been wrong about everything.
- biscottigelato 5y agoAnyone that is in a situation that is trying to establish new relationships with people and understand each other emotions during so in as contentious a situation as figuring a new person out would have found a mask hugely inhibiting. Grown-up that have never change their social circles for year will not be able to empathize. Nomads definitely do and understand what kids have to go through as they are trying to navigate the world and understand other human being from scratch.
- elpakal 5y agoExactly. I volunteered at my son’s kindergarten class one day and saw how difficult it was for them to interact with each other let alone pronounce words. I was not the same dad after that. I’m curious if the parents of young children that feel masks are NBD have spent time in the classroom.
