I have come across too many managers who fixate on a goal. Uusually set with too short a timeframe and insufficient budget (both money and resources). Then they constantly harangue the team to deliver on their expectations. Generally, such managers are trying to impress their higher ups with their management talent. The only solution I know of is to look for a new job. At the same time push back on the demands. Helps to have no concern whether you get fired or end up quitting before the new job comes through.
