This makes me want to dismiss the entire article as crackpot nonsense. Apparently there are [prototype devices made](https://news.mit.edu/2019/converting-wi-fi-signals-electricity-0128 https://news.mit.edu/2019/converting-wi-fi-signals-electrici...) that can capture tens of microwatts of energy from a WiFi signal (though how close it is to the router is anyone's guess), which is maybe enough to trickle charge an ultra-low power device.
