Where do you draw the line?

- seanhunter 5y agoI genuinely don't know what point you're trying to make, but the "line" is clearly somewhere between the functionaly illiterate wife of of a dictator pretending to be a scientist for propaganda purposes and Albert Einstein.
- trompetenaccoun 5y agoWhat is your source for her having been "functionally illiterate"?
- seanhunter 5y agoThat's a claim from first few paragraphs of the article itself. It uses the phrase "almost illiterate" so I guess that's what I should have said instead.
- trompetenaccoun 5y agoYes but that's some random blog and not a credible source. There is no citation. The truth is often somewhere between bumbling idiot and genius when it comes to such claims.
- jl2718 5y agoPoincare, Hilbert, Riemann, Minkowski, and many others may have different opinions. And who knows where they got their ideas too. The truth of any invention is murky, but Einstein was the first to bring cosmology to the masses. So for those people who would not have known of such things, and feel more satisfied celebration of a name then understanding of an idea, he is the true inventor. Maybe it works the same way for the Romanian lay with regard to polymer science. They don’t really care about the science. They’re looking for a heroic myth.
