Stopped reading here, this boss is a joke. leave asap. if this boss isn't directly damaging your career, they are indirectly doing so as an opportunity cost. you can't learn anything from them, being around them is a net loss for you.
- mooreds 5y agoI agree the boss is a joke. But the asker is pretty clear leaving isn't an option: "I don't want to job hop right now as I have other obligations."
- iancmceachern 5y agoYou might not have the option not to...
- noasaservice 5y agoI've never seen a company give 2 week notices of firing or layoff. It's not like they care when business numbers go a certain way. ALWAYS and I do mean always have a contingency plan. And if you somehow feel "obligated" to a workplace, quit thinking that right now. The proper solution to a bad workplace is to make it a FORMER workplace.
- mooreds 5y agoI'm not arguing that the author should give notice or would not be better served by leaving, I'm just saying that the author explicitly rules out departing and wonders what can be done without doing that.
- akomtu 5y agoThe candidate should've come to the interview with a 1 millimeter long red tie, and when the boss started blabbering about "attention to details", the candidate should've handed him a loupe.
